Building Adventures

Venturing is a youth-led program all about building adventures with your friends. Choose to do activities that matter to you and develop essential skills like leadership, event-planning, organization, communication, and responsibility while having a blast!

Everyone has that moment that opens their eyes to a bigger world than they ever imagined. It might happen while paddling a quiet lake, bonding with new friends around a beach bonfire, or rising to the challenge of leading an exhausted crew to the edges of adventure. Venturing empowers you to create your own experiences while bringing Scouting values to life through high adventure outdoor activities and challenging real-world projects.

Conquering Challenges

Venturing Scout groups are called Crews, and the goal of Venturing is to work together as a crew to plan and conquer adventures together.  Crews are lead by the youth, not adults (adults are there for safety and guidance). Nothing brings people together like new challenges.

FAQ about Venturing

Yes.  Since the start of the Venturing program, Crews have always been co-ed.  Boys and Girls work together to plan and take part in the adventures.  Adults provide proper supervision.

Crews do not generally meet as often as Cub Scouts or Scouts BSA units do, mainly due to the fact that the members are older and are involved in other activities.  Many crews meet once a month for planning, and then have an outing on another date/weekend.

Venturing is for older youth, and it is very common for Scouts BSA members to be also part of a Venturing crew.  Older Scouts want more adventure, and Venturing gives them that opportunity.

Yes!  Once a youth is registered with the Boy Scouts of America in any capacity, they can join other units for no additional membership cost.  The only cost incurred would be unit (Troop/Crew) dues (if any), uniform, and activity costs.  It is very common for Venturers to either have been or are currently Scouts BSA Scouts.
